How to manually set up email account on your Apple iPhone X?

In order to get started sending and receiving emails on your iPhone X, you will need to set up your email accounts beforehand. Setting up emails on your iPhone X can be done automatically or manually. For those who opted to go for the latter setup, knowing the server information for incoming and outgoing servers along with other settings would be necessary. This therefore denotes the need to contact your carrier or email service provider so as to get the correct information.

Once you've got everything ready, you may then proceed with these steps:

Steps to manually set up email account on your iPhone X:

  • Tap Settings from the Home screen.
  • Tap Accounts & Passwords.
  • Tap Add Account.
  • Scroll to and tap Other from the given options.
  • Then tap Add Mail Account.
  • Enter your name, email address, password and a description for your email account. An email account description would be necessary in identifying an email account, especially you've set up multiple email accounts on your device.
  • Tap Next to continue.
  • Wait for the Mail app to attempt to find the email settings and finish your account setup.
  • If the Mail app successfully finds your email settings, tap Done to save and complete your account setup.

What to do if the Mail app cannot find your email settings?

If that is so, then you will need to enter them manually. Here's how it's done:

  • Tap Next then proceed with these steps:
  • Select IMAP or POP for your new account category.
  • If you are not sure which one to select, contact your email service provider for verification and confirmation.
  • Enter the required information for the Incoming Mail server and Outgoing Mail Server. The server information can be obtained using the Look Up tool on the Apple Support website or contact your email service provider.
  • Then tap Next.
  • If your email settings are correct, tap Save.
  • Wait for the Mail app to verify your server settings. You will be prompted to edit your settings if found incorrect.

If your email account is successfully setup, restart your device then try to open the Mail app. You should be able to see your email inbox populated with your email messages.
